In his own words, from his fighter profile: "I've been striking for 2 years, southpaw."

Christopher Fuentes fights for the 135 lb amateur kickboxing title at Crash Combat 8. Born in Laredo, Texas, he moved constantly as a child — roughly six states in thirteen years — before the family settled in Kansas in 2018. He joined a gym the moment he turned eighteen and spent several years building an athletic base before finding Next Gen Fight Gym about two years ago. He trains under Jessica Link, with Trey Santos and Isaac Doolittle, and is unusually direct about what he owes them: "I really wouldn't be here without their encouragement and support."

He has fought twice before for Crash and credits both opponents as teachers. He hopes to train in Thailand one day, and admires Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard and the golden-era Thai fighters. He had respect for his opponent's tape, and a closing thought on the sport itself: stepping into the ring "is not something a coward can do. It's something a warrior can do."
